A Cavalry Saber with Type An IX Grip

Description: Curved blade, cut with a large fuller along the back edge with clip-back point, proof mark, stamped along the back edge with the blade smiths name "GILL". A brass trople-bar hilt with down-curved quillon, a pair of elliptical langets. Original leather covered grip with brass wire binding. A steel scabbard with two suspension rings, stamped with retailers address "Osborne & Gunby/Birm" (trading at Pall Mall 1808-1818). United Kingdom circa 1810, length 103 cm. Thomas Gill (Jr.) at 83 St. James Street 1809-1816. Condition 2
