A Cavalry Broadsword of the Life Guards Regiment of the King Christian VII of Denmark

Description: Single-edged, broad blade with fuller on both sides and central point (somewhat pitted), etched on the obverse side with crowned monogram C7 for Christian VII accompanied by the text "Die Paillje Garde". The reverse side bears a coats of arms of Altona and text with date "Altona 1766". Brass knuckle-bow hilt with side-bar and shell-shaped guard. Thumb ring and a straight crossguard. Smooth back-piece and a cast lion head pommel. The grip cover has the original brass wire wrapping. Denmark, Altona 1766, length 100 cm. Condition 2
