Sabre for Austrian Mining Officials

Description: Single-edged, curved blade with fuller on both sides and central point. Upper part on both sides decorated with etched cartridge bearing inscription "Glück auf" and miner´s emblem (crossed hammers). The ricasso with maker´s mark "SOLINGEN W & ST" (Weyersberg & Stamm). Coloured-metal hilt with rests of gilding. Cast pierced basket decorated with foliate ornaments and centraly. Wooden grip covered with fish-skin and bound with twisted wire. Steel plate scabbard, nickel-plated, brass mountings, with two movable carrying rings. Austria circa 1890, length 100 cm. Dents. Condition 2
