A Model 1791 Sabre for Officers of the Cavalry (Hussars)

Description: The single-edged, curved blade fullered on both sides has a Pandour point and a false edge for the last 220 mm. It has etched decoration, including gilded trophies and flovers. The makers designation "Gebr. Bauer & Sne. Fabrikanten in Solingen" etched on the back of the blade. Unusual iron knuckle-bow hilt with for Saxony typical diamond-shaped widening. Leather grip cover with brass wire winding. Iron scabbard with two moveable suspension rings. Presumably Saxony circa 1800, length 98.5 cms. Condition 2
