A Hungarian Hussar´s Sabre

Description: Single-edged, slightly curved blade with two fullers and two additional narrow grooves on both sides. Remnants of engravings on both sides and incised "PRO DEO, FIDE ET PATRIA" on one side (rubbed). Iron hilt comprising flattened vertically recurved quillons, the front one forming the knuckle-guard, long cross-piece. Wooden grip covered with black leather, brass decorative rivet, smooth back-piece, boat-shaped pommel with tang nut. Wohl original leather scabbard and belt. Hungarian, 17th century, length 90 cm. With a letter in Hungarian language. Condition 2
