A Waidpraxe (Chopping Knife, Hunting Cutlass)

Description: A heavy single-edged chopping blade engraved on both sides with floral pattern, running stag and boar. The smith mark at the base of the blade. Quillons made in brass with chiselled hunting dog on the side. Finely carved wooden grip in the shape of a lion attacked by hounds. Germany circa 1700, length 33.5 cm. Condition 2+
