Description: | Strongly curved single-edged blade forged of wootz-Damascus. The cross quillons with remnants of gilding (probably replacement). Spiral-shaped grip plates made probably of Rhinoceros horn, silver grip strap engraved with floral designs. The wooden scabbard covered in shagreen leather, a seam stitched in fine silver gilded wire on one side. Finely floral embossed silver mountings with remnants of gilding, openwork adornements set with fine natural coral, turquoise cabochons and pearls on the obverse side. Two suspension gilded iron bars. An Ottoman circa 1800, length 93 cm. Some old repairs. Condition 2 |
